I have always loved Neisha Crosland's Textile designs . There is something ethnic about them which gives a sense of how well traveled she must be. In 2009 I was assisting on a House and Garden photo-shoot and we were using her tile designs for flooring. It was then that I fell deeply in love and was inspired to take on ceramic tile making. She collaborated with Alvaro de Ferranti of De Ferranti ,to design these beautiful and unique tiles. They are handmade and hand painted ,glazed on terracotta. With a unique distressed matte finish that makes them feel as if they have just been uncovered in a ruin. These earthy hues are available in several colours too. I love them all!

I cannot begin to tell you the various emotions I felt when I came across this house. This truly has got to one of my very favorite designs OF ALL TIME! It is the house that keeps on giving really! Just when you think you have got it figured out you stumble into yet ANOTHER pleasant surprise!

It is a -wait for it-VACATION HOME designed by the architect Kotaro Ide from the Japanese firm Artechnik.

The two storey organic shape is made from re-enforced cement. The structure was built above the ground to protect it from the low tempretures of the Karuizawa region......

Double glazed glass offers uninterrupted views of the nature from within the house.Deck wood was used on he patio to create a small amphitheater-like structure at the centre of the house around a full-grown tree.

One of the requests from the owners was for the house to co-exsist with nature, which I personally think was executed well......

Who bloody well knew! Our Kid Rock has some SERIOUS taste!

His Malibu hide out is so unexpectedly serene..... Apparently he was drawn to this house because of it's craftsmanship (?!) Now I am not one to judge ,but I never envisioned him living in a place like this.It looks like such a cool place to kick back and relax.

The interior was done by none other than the Gifted Martyn Lawrence-Bullard. He said they were going for something sexy,luxurious but also relaxed.

I think he did a good job,don't you?

The open feeling of this kitchen makes me go Ballistic! For a long time I have fantasized about doing a similar design to our kitchen,which I have to say is fine as it is,but being an interior designer/Stylist my home is always a canvas I enjoy working on. Wow. it looks like the last post has got me thinking of India. We have family in Mumbai and my Husband and I have been thinking of visiting them for Christmas. That would truly be something!

These images of a small Indian hotel are so charming. How much do you love the paintings in the veranda? I think these would look fabulous in a large hallway or even a living room...stunning stuff.

I first came to know of John Robshaw through Elle Deco magazine , a few months back. When I linked to his Website I simply fell in love with his work.

Having studied Traditional Block Printing in China, he went on to work along-side artisans in Gujarat and Rajastan.

..and even block printed sarongs along side a family who had done so for four generations.

You really get a feeling that he takes time to be present with these artisans,learning and preserving their traditional techniques,

Check out his home featured in Lonny magazine.

I am deeply ,DEEPLY enjoying my ceramic tiling course at the moment. we will be making lots of tiles and choosing designs we like or simply creating our own designs. I am currently loving the Moroccan style especially the the old vintage style. I first came across the above image in the uber-cool girls decorating book by Abigail Ahern when i bought her book last year. All the images in the book are by the talented Mr Atkins-Hughes.

I love the way he captures colour.....that chair and those cushions work so well together don't you think?

Graham not only has a delightful website, he also runs Location78, a cool pad in East London which he and his partner-stylist Jo Atkins-Hughes,transformed into an amazing photographic location hire. It's always refreshing and encouraging to come across REAL talent from time to time, I wish them all the best.

I assisted a photo-shoot a while back with the amazing House and Garden , and I we had these amazing ceramic tiles by Neisha Grosland, they were not used in a kitchen ,but i remember thinking how wonderful they would have looked in one at the time.

After being away for five weeks my husband and I got the shock of our lives when we returned! The fast pace in Europe really took us by surprise.....no more layed-back days under the mango tree ,sipping on a Mazoe. It's back to the real world!

I'm back and I have missed you all terribly! Zimbabwe was just lovely and I have to say we seemed to spent most of the time at the house just relaxing and doing the house up. That's one of the downsides of having tenants in the house I guess. There was lots of repairing and repainting! But it was wonderful really! we have lots of ideas for the house and how we want it to look in the future.The garden was a bit neglected,but having a house on FOUR AND A HALF ACRE peace of land proved a bit tricky even for our strong gardener. All in all it was fun,Hard work(home away from home) and great to see my family. good to be back!

We are off to Zimbabwe for FIVE weeks, my brother is having a wedding and we also have a few things to sort out whilst we are there. The pets have been sent off to their respective Pet-sitters and I could just die from exhaustion right now!There is always so much to sort out when you're going away:-)

Isn't she gorgeous! She wears her tribal identity with pride, and as a Ndebele/Shona woman, I can Identify with that..
Now , this image has haunted me for weeks .The colour of the natural fibers from the headboard, the white from the pillows combined with the mute/rustic green of the bed cover........LOVE IT. You can see that sensitive, intellectual thought has been applied in combining the colour palate of this room.

Hope you guys had a lovely weekend.Mine was just wonderful ,thanks for asking.My parents were wonderful,and after they left on Sunday (sniff,sniff) we went over to my sister in-law's for lunch and to admire their new house. And speaking of houses, the house i'm adoring this week is by a couple I know nothing about because the article I took it from was in Latino, so there you go! hope you like it too!

My Mummy and Daddy are in Town and I couldn't be happier.There's something about being with your parents that brings out the little child in you! or maybe is it just me? Anyway We're all going out for lunch and then picking up the little one from the stables(P0ny day)..the weather could not have been nicer as well...aahh ....bliss.

There must be something going on in the atmosphere .......a shift of some sort. For a while I have had various projects to complete ,but never managed them. I'm sleeping funny, with recurring nightmare after the other........strange. This picture represents to me everything I want to be at the moment........Orderly , still, disciplined. The husband thinks I'm being too hard on myself,after all I still keep the home in order, the little one fed and loved,And also manage to carry out my meditation and yoga first thing in the morning. Maybe it's my chi preparing for what's to come. I do have some exciting plans for the future...

I HEART Paul smith at the moment, his quirky designs are so appealing to me. I also appreciate his sense of colour and Child-like fun in his designs. He has said in the past that Henri Matisse is one of his great inspirations when it comes to colour.Looking around my house I also notice that even though most of my artwork is mostly from African Art Galleries,it has Matisse feel to it too. I think I'll try to dedicate this week's posts to both Men.

I simply love the way the owners of this house have mixed the African Ethnic influence with the clean Mediterranean white. It really is a fresh approach that I have never seen before ,and best of all-It Works!

Found these two Bamboo Chairs at a clearance shop yesterday on my way to a client's house and had to have them, I managed to barter the two lovelies down to just £5 EACH!!!! Very pleased.

This week I am busy packaging and organizing the AMAZING gift my Charity recieved from the Condenast Publishing house where I do internships from time to time. They kindly gave us a large number of printers and Monitors for the schools we work with in Zimbabwe. Now as as I roll up my sleeves and flex my muscles for some serious work at hand,I leave you with a Delightful image of one of my fave Groups Les Nubians.

Ok hands up if you love Bedrooms! How can anyone not, this is the place we retreat to a place we go to rejuvenate ourselves....."the last place see and the first place you wake up to" ,as someone once put it.Right first stop-Robin Bell does us all justice with this cool Tropical setting... LOVE IT!
Fen Fulk keeps it grown-up and sophisticated with these two bedrooms, Image visiting friends and sleeping in one of these rooms as a guest- I'D NEVER LEAVE!

I just totally love the freshness that this living room exudes ,not an 'indoor plant' person myself,I still appreciate this one in particular ,love the way it seems to work with the Green sofa and surroundings. There's something seventies about this room,something retro and yet 21st century at the same time. BUT what I think brings it all together ,giving this space a lovely airy feel, is the clever Shelving which also seems to act as a division wall as well.....
